Get Wood Blind Prices
The perfect alternative to shutters. Wood blinds are warm and inviting, and come richly stained or superbly painted in an endless palette of colors and stains.
When choosing which wood blind to buy, consider these important differences:
- Basswood versus ramin wood- basswood is long established as the premium grade wood used in blinds. However, it is normally slightly more expensive than ramin. Its appeal is its strength and more distinct grain. Basswood is particularly better suited for stained wooden blinds.
- No-holes option: referred by Hunter Douglas as the De-light option, this will eliminate the holes in the center of the blind's slats, allow the slats to close tighter, and as a result make your room darker and more energy-efficient. Generally only the basswood blinds come with a no-holes option.
- Valance: ramin wood blinds generally come with a traditional 2" wood valance, which hides the metal headrail, while most basswood blinds have a more decorative 3" deluxe valance.
- Bottom rail: a trapezoid-shaped bottom rail is angled, which allows the bottom rail to pivot more easily than a rectangular bottom rail. When the bottom rail pivots more, the slats close tighter-and therefore block more light and energy. Again, it is usually only the basswood blinds that come with that feature.
- Cost: many times it comes right down to price. So as long as you choose a reputable brand the ramin blinds will cost less and perform well. We have sifted through all available brands and consider the ones we offer the best ones available.
