Get Cellular Shade Prices
Stay cool in summer and warm in winter with insulating cellular, honeycomb shades. Get them either in the light-filtering or room-darkening varieties. Light-filtering cellular shades let light gently filter in, but give you total privacy. The room-darkening versions block light and provide extra insulation.
Cellular shades pull up and stack high for a clear view outside.
Choose from either single, double, or triple-celled shades. The more cells, the higher the cost, but the better the insulation and ability to block glare. All three provide privacy. Cell sizes are either 3/8" or 3/4" tall. Choose the size that looks best to you. Normally the larger the window, the more likely you should choose the 3/4" cell. Also, larger cells (i.e. honeycombs) have more static air which acts as a better barrier for energy efficiency. For a consistent look, we suggest you don't mix sizes within a room.
Honeycomb shades are made of polyester, so they're inherently color-fast and flame retardant. Minimal dust; simple to clean.
Two VERY popular options are (1) continuous cord loops (e.g. EasyRise, EasyUp, etc) which help you raise heavy shades easily, and the (2) Bottom-Up/Top-Down option which allows you to lower the top of the shade (rather than the bottom), giving you privacy YET allowing you to see out above the shade. Since room-darkening shades are so effective at blocking light, and you might want to close your shades during the day without blocking much light, adding the TD/BU feature gives you added flexibility at adjusting your light.
These two options are strongly suggested when the added price makes sense to you. A third option is the amazing Duette Duolite, where you get the Bottom-Up/Top-Down feature along with a second sheer fabric. In effect, you get two shades in one…a sheer fabric on top and an opaque shade on the bottom.
For out-of-reach window, media rooms, and just for pure luxury, many of the cellular shades can be motorized with remote controls at a surprisingly affordable price. Hunter Douglas calls theirs PoweRise. And no additional wiring is needed, because the power comes from a handy battery wand inside the headrail. The AA batteries are easily replaced and with normal use only once per year.
