- "How much will one cost?", asked the customer in a hardware store.
"Twenty cents," replied the clerk.
"And how much will twelve cost?"
"Forty cents."
"Okay. I’ll take one hundred and twelve."
"Fine. That will be sixty cents."
What was the customer buying?
Hints:
The customer could not have used less than one hundred-and-twelve. The one hundred-and-twelve costs only three times as much to produce as the one.
